Both systems offer you a wide and complete range of frequencies, the Logitech Z625 (see image) is louder.
CAUTION: Before you read further, you should know that the demographic these speakers aim for are consumers seeking functional sound on a budget. If you are looking for pristine, premium-quality audiophile systems or studio monitors for music production in the studio, check out something like the KEF LS50 Wireless Speakers or Yamaha HS series instead.
In summary, both speakers offer a level of sound quality surprisingly impressive in its price range. However, the Logitech Z625 does tend to have that slight edge over the Logitech Z623 when the connectivity and added power are taken into consideration. If the lack of Bluetooth and wireless connectivity does not bother you, either is a great bang for the buck.
Figuring out the kind of speaker system you want to invest in depends on a list of specific factors you will want to take into consideration. Your expectations, your goals, taste, the space you want to use these speakers in, and of course, budget. And while a lot of the above will be subjective, here’s a comparison of these two particular speaker systems to help you make the decision.
Design and Build
Both systems come with a minimalistic, futuristic, but also mildly rugged look that manages to fit into the urban home or office. The speakers come with the kind of curves that gamers might especially relate to and but aren’t too over-the-top for a more conservative office setting.
The upward-facing angle of the speakers, while probably aimed to offer a more personalized listening experience, can backfire if your desk is higher than usual. This is not a deal-breaker, though. And the rubber bases underneath are a nice touch. These give them added stability and sound absorption, thus avoiding the dreaded furniture buzz when you feel like a crank-up every now and then.
The bass volume control knobs are on the right speaker. Their generous size leaves you with a nice comfortable feeling while making adjustments. A nice little detail that works in its favor.
Both systems look very similar at first glance. The primary differences between the two systems are in size and weight. Let’s have a quick look at these.
The Logitech Z623 (see image) is 7.7 inches tall, 4.6 inches wide, and 5.0 inches deep.
Weight
- The Logitech Z623 weighs in at 18.3 lbs
- The Logitech Z625 at 19.7 lbs
Size
- The Logitech Z623 is 7.7 inches tall, 4.6 inches wide, and 5.0 inches deep
- The Logitech Z625 is 11.1 inches tall, 11.9 inches wide, and 10.4 inches deep
While the lighter weight of the Logitech Z623 is something all backs will be grateful for, the extra inches on the subwoofer on the Logitech Z625 actually make a marked difference in the sound. Especially with lower frequencies.
Both systems can tend to come across as a little flimsy when you notice the disparity between speaker and subwoofer sizes. As I said, this is not a high-end audiophile product! But the sound is loud, clear, moderately balanced, and easily fills up a medium to a large room.
Material
The Logitech Z625 is a combination of plastic and Medium-Density fibreboard, giving it a slight edge over the Logitech Z623, which is all plastic. While neither is probably the sexiest of materials, expecting a lot more in this price range would have probably been too optimistic. And in the end, the design and black finish are forgiving enough to let both systems get away with it.
Features
Both the Logitech Z623 and Logitech Z625 are THX certified. A fact that does seem to leave some skeptics a little puzzled since it’s the kind of certification only high-end products were granted up until a few years ago. Needless to say, this is one of their biggest strengths, and it does add an additional layer of credibility.
The Logitech Z623 offers:
- Total power of 200 Watts
- Subwoofer power of 130 Watts
- Speaker power of 2 x 35 Watts
- A frequency range that starts at a minimum of 35.0 Hz to a maximum of 20 kHz
- Power per channel (RMS) of 35.0W

The Logitech Z625, on the other hand, offers:
Logitech Z623 (see image) offers 2 analog inputs (3.5mm aux), an analog RCA stereo input (no outputs though), and a headphone output (3.5mm).
- Total power of 400 Watts/ 200 Watts (RMS)
- Subwoofer power of 260 Watts/ 130 Watts (RMS)
- Speaker power of 2 x 70 Watts/ 2 x 35 Watts (RMS)
- A frequency range that starts at a minimum of 35.0 Hz to a maximum of 20 kHz
- Power per channel (RMS) of 35.0W
If that sounds too technical to you, what it really means is that while both systems offer you a wide and complete range of frequencies, the Logitech Z625 is louder.
Neither of the systems offers an equalizer, though. So if fine-tuning your mix is a priority, you’ll probably have to do it internally through your gadget. A lot of apps on computers and devices will let you do this. For gaming and entertainment apps that don’t, you might be left with only the bass control to make do with. This might be a little challenging to get a balanced sound if you’re in a room that tends to be ‘boomy.’ For the most part, though, it should not be a major issue.
Connectivity
The Logitech Z623 offers:
- 2 analog inputs (3.5mm aux)
- An analog RCA stereo input (no outputs, though)
- A headphone output (3.5mm)
The Logitech Z625 offers all of the above but adds a digital optical input (S/PDIF) to boot, giving it a slight edge over its little brother.
Small caveat: neither of these systems come with Airplay or Bluetooth. This might actually be a deal-breaker in an age where many of us rely upon our phones and devices for a lot of the audio we consume. Many of which do not have analog audio outputs anymore.
Any form of USB connectivity or remote control is absent as well.
Power Supply
Both come with a standard power supply and do not offer the option of a USB charger or adapter being used to do the same.
Price
The Logitech Z623 is priced at $169.99 and the Logitech Z625 at $179.99.
